Dear Member of Congress:
I am writing to you as a constituent and member of the VPPPA, a workplace safety and health organization dedicated to advancing health and safety excellence, requesting that you support S.1417/H.R.2844, the Michael Enzi Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Act.
My company has been positively affected by its participation in VPPPA and the impact of OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program, not just on the nearly 2,000 VPP sites nationwide, but on all workplaces through innovation and sharing of best practices that save lives.
This legislation, named after a true champion of collaboration between management and labor, will codify OSHA’s VPP and make this highly successful program a permanent tool for OSHA to use in its efforts to eliminate fatalities, injuries and illnesses in the American workplace. Furthermore, it cements the legacy of a program founded more than 40 years ago by front-line workers and management, allowing OSHA and companies like mine to modernize and grow this program, which according to OSHA statistics, prevents an estimated 4,000 workplace injuries each year.
