Welcome to Safe + Sound Week 2020
Go Home Safe and Sound
Safe + Sound is a year-round campaign that encourages every workplace to have a safety and health program that incorporates elements of management leadership, worker participation, and a systematic approach to finding and fixing hazards. Implementing a meaningful safety and health program takes dedicated planning, but even incremental improvements are valuable. Safe + Sound emphasizes that wherever you are in your safety and health journey, you can always take a step in the right direction. Safety and health programs can prevent workplace illness and injuries, improve businesses’ safety and health performance, save money, and increase competitiveness.
Safe + Sound provides a number of resources for small- and medium-sized businesses to help develop their safety and health programs.
Safe + Sound is supported by a team of seven organizers, including VPPPA, as well as over 220 partner organizations, and individual businesses who are committed to raising awareness about workplace safety and health.
Commemorating Safe + Sound Week 2019
Safe + Sound Week is a nationwide event held each August that recognizes the successes of workplace safety and health programs and offers information and ideas on how to keep America’s workers safe. The week-long event encourages employers to highlight employee contributions to improving workplace safety and to launch new safety initiatives.
In 2019, over 55,000 participants received regular safety and health messages and more than 3,300 businesses participated in Safe + Sound Week.
Last year, VPPPA was a key influencer in promoting Safe + Sound Week on their communication channels and providing information on safety and health programs. Safe + Sound Week is a worthwhile way to engage VPPPA members and to support safety and health programs since every worker deserves to go home safe and sound at the end of each day.
This year, Safe + Sound Week will be held from August 10-16, 2020. Organizations or businesses of any size or in any industry looking for an opportunity to show their commitment to safety to workers, customers, the public or supply chain partners, are welcome to participate.
There are several ways to participate in Safe + Sound Week. Your company can either host a private event for your workplace or an event that is free and open to the public. Activities should directly relate to safety and health, engage your workers, and be adapted to how your workplace is currently operating. As an organizer, VPPPA will feature ways to participate.
