Tennessee Governor Proclaims Safety & Health in the Workplace Week to Coincide with VPPPA’s Safety+ Symposium

Falls Church, Va. – On July 10, 2018, Bill Haslam, Governor of the State of Tennessee, put out a proclamation declaring the week of August 27-31, 2018 as Safety and Health in the Workplace Week. Haslam encourages all citizens to join him in this worthy observance.

Haslam’s proclamation honors the partnership between the Voluntary Protection Programs Participants’ Association (VPPPA), the Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Tennessee Chapters of the American Society of Safety Professionals to co-host VPPPA’s Safety+ Symposium and the Tennessee Safety & Health Conference (TSHC). The Safety+ Symposium is being held at the Gaylord Opryland Convention Center in Nashville, TN, August 28-31, 2018.

Mike Guillory, Chairman of VPPPA’s Board of Directors, said, “We are honored to learn of Governor Haslam’s proclamation. Safety and Health in the Workplace Week is another step toward recognizing the importance of the safety and health industry, and the efforts of all those organizations striving for safer workplaces.”

Governor Haslam will be speaking at the Safety+ Symposium on Tuesday, August 28, during the Opening General Session. Guillory went on to state, “We are proud to have Governor Haslam attend our symposium. The partnership between the VPPPA and the TSHC ensures that this year’s Safety+ Symposium will be one of our best ever. We look forward to delivering more than 100 educational sessions, hundreds of exhibitors, and countless networking opportunities for our attendees.”
